Required Qualifications: (Level 2) Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in biology, medical sciences, or related field; one year laboratory experience; must have experience with mRNA extraction, making cDNA library, Real-Time PCR, conventional RT-PCR techniques; (Level 3) Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in biology, medical sciences, or related field, two years laboratory experience, experience with mRNA extraction, making cDNA library, Real-Time PCR, and conventional RT-PCR techniques OR Master’s degree in a related field. Special Requirements: Willingness and ability to handle rats and/or mice. Responsibilities: assists in molecular and histological experiments, including: mRNA extraction, making cDNA library, Real-Time PCR, conventional RT-PCR, protein extraction, SDS-PAGE, Semi-quantitative immunoblotting, and immunohistochemistry; assists in the training of lab technician. Microscopy Imaging Specialist

The Socolofsky Microscopy Facility at LSU (http://www.biology.lsu.edu/facilities/micro_fac/) is a core facility serving the microscopy needs of the LSU research community. Required Qualifications: (Research Associate 3) Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field and three years related experience OR a Master’s degree in a related field and one year of experience; (Research Associate 4) Master’s degree in Biology or related field and two years of related experience; (Research Associate 5) Master’s degree in Biology or related field and three years of related experience OR a Ph.D. in a related field; (All Levels) experience in electron microscopy. Responsibilities: prepares SEM and TEM samples; performs image acquisition and analysis and user training; oversees scanning and transmission electron microscopes; supervises staff involved in light and electron microscopy. The Department of Biological Sciences and the Center for Computation & Technology (CCT) at Louisiana State University invite applications for a joint faculty position in Computational Biology, broadly defined. Required Qualifications: Ph.D.; a successful track record of independent research; areas of interest include, but are not limited to: biomolecular structure/function, systems biology modeling, genomics and computational neuroscience. Responsibilities: maintains and has a vigorous, extramurally funded research program and contributes to undergraduate and graduate teaching; works closely with faculty in Biological Sciences and other departments at LSU, as well as the CCT faculty to foster the development of a center of excellence in Computational Biology at LSU. LSU anticipates hiring several additional faculty in computational biology in the future. The CCT offers an innovative and interdisciplinary research environment for advancing computational sciences, including a highly competitive computing environment with access to 100 TFlops of computing resources in conjunction with the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (LONI). This position is also offered in conjunction with the LONI Institute (http://institute.loni.org/), a bold new inter-university collaboration aiming to fill a dozen new faculty positions in related areas.
