The Louisiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta was founded in 1954 at Louisiana State University. We are one of the largest chapters in the United States with over 3500 members. Currently there are about 180-200 members of which about 100 individuals maintain an active status. The goals of Louisiana Beta are to promote the preparation of students studying towards a career in health related fields. Activities designed to educate and prepare the students include seminar series with a local hospital, interaction with hospital doctors and staff, talks and discussions at regular meeting featuring specialty and generalist viewpoints in medicine, panels on the application process with emphasis on the roles of the premed evaluation committee and interactions with the Deans of Admission for the state medical universities.
