The Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University is seeking a full time Instructor to teach and/or assist in the preparation of undergraduate Ecology laboratory courses. Academic appointment begins August 18, 2008. Required qualifications are a Master’s or equivalent degree in a life science or related field and excellent teaching skills. Additional desired qualifications are a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a life science or related field as well as experience with multimedia and/or other modern instructional techniques. Responsibilities: (Administration of Grants and Contracts) serves as a liaison between the principal investigator(s) and the University for administration of departmental grants and contracts; conforms to funding agency requirements of budgets, reports and proposals to funding agencies; maintains spreadsheets and database records on grant and contract expenditures; responds to requests by the Chair; Assistant to the Chair, and the principal investigator(s) concerning grants and contracts; reviews all new/renewal proposals to check budgets for accuracy and conformity to university guidelines; (Accounting Management) prepares, analyzes, and reconciles ledgers on the Board of Regents, American Health Association, American Diabetes Association, La. Department of Wildlife and Fisheries grants, NIH, COR Faculty Research, all cost sharing account, and privately funded grants to ensure that these are in balance; prepares travel documents for candidates, seminar speakers, prospective graduate students, and special guest to the department; assists with department’s equipment inventory; performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Chair and/or the Assistant to the Chair. COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST
Associate/Full Professor
