This site provides information for new, current and prospective students. You may go to this information simply by selecting the appropriate link.

The Department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry and Biological Sciences with the emphases described below. You may simply click on the degree name, below, to get details on the degree, the faculty, the facilities and how to apply. Within either degree program page, click on the "Graduate Faculty" link to find a list of faculty members and links to their research interests and email addresses.
  • Biochemistry: concentrates on the many disciplines intrinsic to Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
  • Biological Sciences: emphasizes modern interdisciplinary approaches to biology in areas such as bioinformatics, systematics, ecology, cell biology, and physiology; and also the traditional organism based approaches such as botany, microbiology and zoology.
You may click on the degree name to get details on the degree, the faculty, and the facilities. Choosing the faculty names will give you extra information of their research and a way to contact them by email. Faculty and students also participate in interdepartmental programs leading to graduate concentrations in Genetics; Plant Physiology; Systematics, Ecology and Evolution; and Toxicology.

Almost 70 Ph.D. degrees have been awarded by the Department over the past five years, and former students are in postdoctoral, faculty, and research and development positions throughout the nation and the world. You may contact current graduate students through our graduate student directory.
