The Department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry and Biological Sciences with the emphases described below. • Biochemistry: concentrates on the many disciplines intrinsic to Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
• Biological Sciences: emphasizes modern interdisciplinary approaches to biology in areas such as bioinformatics, systematics, ecology, cell biology, and physiology; and also the traditional organism based approaches such as botany, microbiology and zoology.

Faculty and students also participate in interdepartmental programs leading to graduate concentrations in Genetics; Plant Physiology; Systematics, Ecology and Evolution; and Toxicology..

Almost 70 Ph.D. degrees have been awarded by the Department over the past five years, and former students are in postdoctoral, faculty, and research and development positions throughout the nation and the world. You may contact current graduate students through our graduate student directory.
