The Center houses a Leica TCS SP2 spectral confocal microscope that is equipped with:

  • DM IRE2 inverted microscope with 10X, 20X, 40X, 63X, and 100X objectives and DIC optics (List of objectives)
  • Ar, He/Ne (green), and He/Ne (red) lasers with laser lines at 458, 476, 488, 514, 543, and 633nm
  • Fully configurable Leica LCS software
  • We have a quantity of DRAQ5, a nuclear stain akin to DAPI, available for your use. It can be visualized with the 633 laser line.
  • The following filter cubes are available for use in the DM IRE2: N2.1, L5, I3, and Y5. Specific information about these cubes can be found here.

For training, contact David H. Burk at (225)578-8246 to schedule an appointment.

Note: As the confocal was obtained with partial funding from the NIH, we ask that you acknowledge the NIH in any publications that arise from its use. Please see this pdf document for more details. Thanks!
